Today was especially challenging because I had to go out of town, away from my juicer. My objective was to find a way to juice without going to my favorite juice franchise or grocer. I failed.... sort of.
The day started out promising. I was up early and made myself a healthy portion of juice with crushed ice, using the fresh veggies that I had bought at midnight. I was well prepared. Who, me? Yes, me! This juicing thing is producing all sorts of miracles!
My 48 ounces of nutrients and water kept me going for the morning and at about lunchtime I looked to see what the Sacramento area had to offer in the way of juice bars. I put out the word to my friends but all they had to offer me was Jamba Juice and the suggestion that I go to the closest bar for a vodka and juice. Unfortunately, distilled potatoes are not in my juicing plan.
Using my handy smartphone app, I found a Robeks down the road. Having never heard of Robeks, I followed the advice of some fellow Yelper's and checked it out.... and walked into a place that pretty much looked like Jamba Juice, complete with boosts. Intrigued by the Tropi-Kale with kale, pineapple, papaya and nonfat yogurt, I took a minute to look at the rest of the menu. As expected, there were the usual high sugar smoothies and, to my surprise, 3 fresh juice blends with my 2:1 ratio.
I caved and got the Tropi-Kale, minus the yogurt. I know, I was weak. It just sounded so good, and it was. Now.... to the Yelper's who rate this place as less expensive than JJ, you need to stop spiking your juice with potatoes. I paid the same for my "original size" smoothie as I would for a JJ power-sized. It was good though.
